Soo Stevens-Clarke gives presentation on her Guatamala trip to deliver water filtrations systems.

Recently during a Rotary International Service project in the Guatemalen jungle, members of the Mesa Sunrise Rotary Club in District 5510 and multiple clubs of District 6440 in Illinois donated and delivered 40 five-gallon gravity water purification units. Each unit is enough for a family of four. The familes were given instruction on how to use and properly clean the units to maintain it.

Around the world over 1.1 billion people do not have access to safe water according to the World Health Organization. As a result more that 3.1 million children die each year from water-borne illnesses such as dysentary.

Few Americans think about he connection between clean water and physical health. We are very lucky to be able to have clean, safe water run at the turn of a faucet.
