Ellen Terry, Volunteer Coordinator for the East Valley Adult Resources Center spoke to Mesa Sunrise Rotary Club regarding community services provided for seniors. Terry emphasized the need for volunteers to assist seniors with activities and services that allow them to remain in their own homes such as shopping, going to doctor's appointments, cancer treatments, etc. Ellen invited those in the community who are interested and are available a few hours a week to give her a call, after a screening process, she can coordinate availability with the needs of seniors in the community. Kyle Collins, DC is a  Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine, specializing in Upper Cervical Care in Scottsdale, at the Wellness Stress Reduction Center. Dr. Collins spoke to the Mesa Sunrise Rotary Club on November 16th and discussed the importance of an integrated approach to personal health and well-being, and encouraged us all to become more aware of nutritition, diet, exercise and a more holistic or natural approach to our own personal health. Peter Sterling, is the President and CEO of the Mesa Chamber of Commerce, and is a member of the Mesa Rotary Club. Peter spoke to the Mesa Sunrise Rotary Club about some of the important changes and developments going on in and around Mesa. He mentioned several areas of the city where important growth and improvements are being made, including Phoenix Mesa Gateway Airport, where 1.1 million passengers fly through the airport annually; First Solar, a new solar panel company in Southeast Mesa that will employ 650 workers and staff, the Falcon Field and Boeing area of Northeast Mesa which employs hundreds of skilled workers and has major government and international contracts; the Mesa Light Rail Extension, which will increase rider capacity and bring new businesses to the area; the health corridor around Higley and the US 60 where several hospitals, a radiology center, medical centers, a dental college and osteopathic college, and other medical office buildings are located; the Fiesta Revitalization Project which will address the blighted unoccupied buildings located on the NWC and NEC of Alma School and Southern, and incudes new technical and vocational training and on-line campus centers, and a number of other exciting new projects in the works aimed at revitalization and stimulating the Mesa economy.
