Cheryl Anderson Behavioral Health Marc Community Resources
 

Speaker- Cheryl Anderson- made decision she wanted to work with adults & children with developmental disabilities. Now works with people with behavioral health. Second female Rotarian in Halliburton.

 

Behavioral Health is now becoming holistic in approach. MMIC & Magellan do a lot of work with Peer Supports and Arizona is ahead of the nation in using peer supports. Peer Support Specialist are our Recovery Coaches.

 

Born and raised in Ontario Canada, Cheryl began volunteering in the field of Human Services at the age of 14. She complete college in 1981 and then Moved to a small northern town in Ontario and eventually became the Executive Director and CEO for Community Living in Halliburton, Canada. In 2001 she immigrated to the United States and began working for Marc Community Resources (formally Marc Center) in 2005. Cheryl is currently the Director of Recovery and Resiliency Support Services. She has had the privilege of working with people with various abilities for over 40 years and says it is a dream come true. Cheryl is also the Vice Chair for the Peer and Family Coalition for Arizona and a new member of Mercy Maricopa Integrated Care Governance Board for the Behavioral Health system in Maricopa County. She has a beautiful daughter, Shawna and granddaughter, Riley, who live in Canada and are the greatest joy in her life. Cheryl has been a resident of Mesa for the past 13 years.

 

Cheryl is also a CARF surveyor.  Marc is going through CARF certification this month.
